AFTERTHOUGHT: sorry if this doesn't make any sense. i don't feel like rereading it to make sure it does and it was completely impulsive.

so, a while ago, i bought a bag of words at a second hand shop. i know what you're thinking, you bought words? how? i bought a bag of wooden words.
the words were:
friends
love
live
dream
wish
hope
when i got home, i decided to put them on my desk. i put them up in that order, starting at the left. i had grabbed them randomly when i put them up, but that's the order they ended up in.
for a little bit of background, i have a desk with a lot of shelves. there are some cabinets, then the part where you sit, then another cabinet. above the cabinets are shelves. there are two shelves that cross over the part where you sit and work that connect the two sides. my desk takes up a whole wall of my small room. it's right next to my door.
i put the words on the highest full shelf.
i didn't realize this when i first put them up, but where i placed each word fit perfectly with the word.
the word friends ended up a little to the left of a small photo album i have of pictures of me and my friends.
the word love ended up in front of a flower clip i have and another small photo album, this time of pictures of family.
the word live was randomly placed in between many different objects. it's surrounded by things like an inflatable minion (from despicable me), a monkey piggy bank, a pair of chopsticks, some cough drops, a toy caterpillar, and a dolphin with my name on it.
the words dream and wish were placed together, right next to each other.
(remember, i grabbed and placed them completely randomly.) that alone is very symbolic, because i believe that a dream is basically a more concrete wish. between them is a steel rose i bought at a fair. on their right is one of my favorite pictures of myself.
once i reached that point, i had run out of room on that shelf since i had left space in between the words. i was trying to figure out where to put the last word i had left when my dad walks in. he sees that i don't know where to put it, so he grabs it and places it to the right of my desk, the only place that there was room. he placed it on top of my door frame, making the word hope be higher up then the rest of the other words.
since the desk isn't secured to the wall, the shelves shake as i jump around my room like a hyper active monkey.
the words all fall down every now and then and i have to stand them up again.
the only word that has never fallen is hope.
:O
ReplyDeleteI love the last sentence. So much. Kind of symbolic, and just really cool in itself. I'm rambling. W00t. Thanks for reminding me to blog. And I love your blog. :D
wow. that's awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's so nice, beautiful, symbolic. Reminds you a bit about life every now and then, huh? :D
ReplyDeleteThat, my friend. Is amazing. It's really a nice piece of writing. Like, seriously. If you ever take rhetoric, dig this up and try to use it for an assignment.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I like the last sentence. :)
