Summer. That time of year is creeping up on us again. While summer brings many good things (ice cream, swimming, tans, no school) it also has its disadvantages. Today I will discuss the pros and cons of one of these: mowing the lawn.

Before I begin, let me explain one thing. I do not have a normal, gas-powered lawnmower. I have an old hand-powered one that looks kinda like this.

PRO: It’s very eco-friendly.
CON: It leaves you exhausted.
PRO: People find it interesting to watch you use it.
CON: People watch you attempt to cut grass with it.
PRO: You get good exercise…
CON: while running around pushing that thing attempting to cut the grass.
PRO: It’s not as loud.
CON: It makes a really annoying whirring sound.
PRO: The grass flies everywhere, making it look like you are clearing the Red Sea… I mean, the Grass Sea.
CON: The grass flies everywhere and it’s itchy.
PRO: You get to be in the sun. It could help with that farmer’s tan…
CON: Unless, of course, you’re like me and will probably get sunburned instead.
PRO: You get fresh air.
CON: The fresh air is infected by bugs.
PRO: You get to see all the cute dogs being taken on walks.
CON: You might run into some dog poop hidden in the tall grass, just waiting to ambush you like a stinkbomb as soon as the blades chop it apart.
PRO: You get to spend time with whoever helps you.
CON: You have to spend this time with them being all sweaty, running around trying to get that last stupid piece of grass that does not wanna be cut, having them watch you whenever you throw the handle down in frustration and wonder if you are crazy.

I don’t know, maybe I’ve just had too hard a time cutting grass using that hand-powered lawn mower.
